One person died in a multi vehicle accident this morning in Mount Morris

Perry Ambulance was one of 14 ambulances on the scene of a fatal accident this morning in Mount Morris.

The accident occurred around 8 a.m. on Route 36. Livingston County Sheriff’s deputies on a jail transport duty, came across the multi vehicle crash as witnesses were phoning it in.

Three vehicles were involved in the crash which involved 13 people in a commercial passenger van, bringing the total number of people involved to 15.

The preliminary on-scene investigation shows the van driven by Lin Hou, 26, of Flushing, was traveling southbound on Route 36 and crossed into the northbound lane, hitting a vehicle head-on. The northbound car, driven by Susan Migliore, 67, of Nunda, was then struck from behind by a SUV being driven by Richard Stanley, 39, of Redding, Pa..

Migliore was pronounced dead at the scene. The occupants of the van were on their way back from a sight seeing excursion of Niagara Falls. They were taken to Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, for treatment. The passengers from the van are all tourists from China. 

At least one of the occupants from the van had serious physical injuries, which included a broken femur, broken lumbar, and several broken ribs, and remains in guarded condition. All others from the van were injured at some level, ranging from broken bones to contusions. The staff at Strong is still evaluating the injuries.

Stanley was treated and released at the scene. 

Assisting the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department on scene included the Mount Morris Police Department and District Attorney’s Office. Responding fire departments included Mt. Morris and West Sparta. Responding Emergency Medical Services agencies included Mt. Morris, Livingston County EMS, Dansville, Geneseo, and Perry’s ambulances; and Nunda, Avon, and Caledonia ALS ambulances.

The Sheriff's Office investigation of the crash is on-going and any criminal charges will be decided at the conclusion of the investigation.
